    Ineffective leadership impedes employee performance and threatens organizational sustainability, causing U.S. businesses to spend billions of dollars addressing such issues. Correspondingly, boxing promotion companies are challenged as some leaders lack strategies to improve employee performance. This single case study was focused on leadership strategies utilized in the boxing promotion industry to improve employee performance. Transformational and charismatic leadership theories were the conceptual framework for this study. The data consisted of semistructured interviews with 8 participants from 1 organization (4 leaders and 4 subordinates), as well as document review of company training materials. The 6-step model for thematic analysis coding procedure was used for data analysis. Five themes/strategies emerged: leading by example, inspiring/fostering teamwork, honest communication, people-driven actions, innovative/adaptive organizational change, and providing rewards were each associated with effective transactional leadership for increasing performance and sustainability. The consensus among participants was that effective leadership is a significant factor in improving employee performance, maintaining constructive leader-subordinate relationships, and increasing organizational sustainability. The social change implications include community economic enhancement. When organizational performance, as well as local economies and communities have the potential to thrive, local spending and use of community resources may also increase to stimulate local economies

    A DFT study for the structures and electronic spectra of 2,3-dihydropyridine-4-ones

    The molecular structure and electronic spectra of eleven dihydropyridones were theoretically studied utilizing density functional (DFT) method. The structures were optimized using B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory. The conformations of the molecules were analyzed with respect to substituents. The central six-membered dihydropyridone ring adopted a half-chair conformation. The geometries did not differ significantly except for conformations of the phenyl or styryl substituents. The only substituents that affected the structure of the central ring are those which have conjugation overlap with the -C=C-C=O system within the ring. Dipole moments and natural charges were calculated and it was found that in most cases substitution leads to higher dipoles, and both methyl and phenyl substituents have the same effect on the atomic charge distribution leading to decrease the atomic charge on the substitution site. Wiberg bond indices were also calculated and used to analyze the substitution effect on the electronic properties of the molecules. It is concluded that substitution on atoms that are not a part of the N-C=C-C=O system have practically no effect on both structural and electronic properties of the molecules. The electronic spectra were also calculated using the ZINDO method. The predicted spectra are in good agreement with experimental spectra concerning the long wavelength absorption band. The electronic transitions were either pure HOMO to LUMO transitions or comprises components of HOMO to LUMO and other transitions like H-1 to L, H to L+2, H-1 to L+1, H-2 to L+1

    CHLORIDE SENSOR FABRICATION BASED ON SPE Ag/AgCl THROUGH CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRIC TECHNIQUE: SCAN RATE EFFECT

    The Cyclic Voltammetric (CV) technique is one of the Ag/AgCl fabrication processes. In electrochemical processes using this CV technique, the microstructure of the surface of a substrate or electrode can affect the scan rate. Thus, this study aims to identify the scan rate effect of the Cl-ion sensor fabrication process using the CV technique on the performance of the Cl-ion sensor. First, the CV process was carried out in one cycle to grow the AgCl layer on the Ag surface. Then, this process was carried out at varied scan rates of 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mV/s. After completing the Ag/AgCl fabrication process, it was followed by the characterization process, selectivity coefficient test, lifetime test, and validation test to compare the test results of the Cl SPE Ag/AgCl ion sensor with Ag/AgCl commercial. The results showed that the optimum Cl-ion sensor response was obtained at the scan rate of 60 mV/s. Then, based on the validation test, the Cl-ion in the two samples did not show significant differences. Therefore, it indicates that the SPE Ag/AgCl ion sensor has the same performance as the Ag/AgCl commercial

    Effect of Spray-Drying and Electrospraying as Drying Techniques on Lysozyme Characterisation

    The production of biopharmaceutical formulation incorporates several difficulties embracing their physical and chemical instabilities. In this study, two drying techniques, namely, spray-drying and electrospraying, were used to assess their application on lysozyme (as a model protein) without and with the use of betacyclodextrin. Samples were prepared in the ratio of 1:1 w/w (protein/betacyclodextrin), and several characterisation methods were applied to study the percentage (%) yield, morphology of the produced partials, thermal stability and biological activity of the protein. The results show the two drying methods led to different particle morphology as spherical-like shape was produced by spray-drying, while rodlike shape was generated by electrospraying with larger particle size. Lysozyme formulations produced by electrospraying were stable just directly after preparation, but after few weeks, those formulations showed visible aggregates. The biological activity of lysozyme was preserved by both drying techniques. In conclusion, both drying methods have different effects on the protein integrity and biological activity in which spray-drying shows more promising results
